Our solar testing equipment generates AAA-class solar simulation according to the IEC 60904-9, ASTM E927 & JIS C8912 standards. This allows customers to perform tests with the highest precision. The AAA rating consists of the following three sub-ratings:
- Class A Spectral match – between 0.75 and 1.25 with respect to the AM1.5 solar spectrum in 100 nm wavelength intervals between 400 and 1100 nm
- Class A Uniformity – less then 2% fluctuation of the light uniformity over the test area
- Class A Stability – less then 2% fluctuation of the light intensity over time (short and long term)
By balancing the different channels different light conditions in power and spectral distribution over the day can be simulated. The graph right shows the shift in spectral distribution and the corresponding match of a 22 channel SUNlike system. Changing the settings with up to 100 Hz performance overa cell a full day can be simulated in one second. SUNlike can be tuned to simulate any spectrum based on geographical, day time and weather conditions.
With each channel offering a specific and well defined light emission a quantum efficiency measurement can be applied over the full cell. Fast triggering and multiple bands give a integral and fast response from the cell for each wavelength. Tests can be done fast for characterization off-line, and possibly even inline.

High-efﬁciency solar cells require longer exposure times than conventional solar cells when measuring cell efﬁciency. Xenon lamps only allow for short exposure times that don't match the measurement requierements. As a result, most set up with xenon lamps allow only to estimate efﬁciency. The risk of overestimating or underestimating is everpresent.
